Am I the only one who thinks the search for a good weeknight wine is neverending? Something a little less redundant than the old 2 buck Chuck standby, but nothing to completely spoil your palette and send you to the poorhouse when you need a second bottle by the middle of the week...this combo has seemed completely unattainable until last week at Kroger when Im assuming the wine buyer checked the wrong box on some order form and ordered entirely too much of this Cabernet and then decided to discount it heavily to move it quickly. Thank You distracted wine broker. Dynamite Cabernet, give it a try...most definitely worth the $8.99, still can't decide if that's because I saw a sign showing it's normally $22.99 or because motor oil would have seemed like a treat after 2 straight weeks of cleaning up vomit, but either way its worth a try. Ringing Endorsement, I know, but it really was very good while I was watching Everybody Loves Raymond. On a Tuesday.

We got brave and CRAZY and ventured out with friends (and 4 kids under 5) to somewhere other than our usual Mexican hangout for dinner tonight. Three of the 4 kids played Angry Birds or entertained us with the Beer that empties the glass as you tip up the IPhone app for the duration of our dinner. I say this still counts as good behavior, especially since our son was so involved in the game that he ate a whole side of roasted butternut squash without batting an eye. Please tell me there are more of you using modern technology to your advantage as you enjoy a glass of wine and some adult conversation.

Low Point of the weekend thus far: 5 year old almost shedding a tear when you crush his hopes and dreams by telling him that the Carrie Fisher on the Jenny Craig commercial is in fact the same Princess Leia that donned the hot buns for ponytails hair-do and the purple bikini. How is he supposed to come back from that?
Girl, that is so funny I drank a bottle of Dynamite Cab this week that I got on sale at my Piggly Wiggly for $8.99. That wine is damn good. I would most definately buy it again, especially for that price! It is hard to find inexpensive wine for weekday drinking.
ReplyDeleteI love the wine Middle Sister and you can buy it at Target. I love the reds and the whites and they are about 9.99 a bottle
ReplyDeleteI am addicted to angry birds too:)
Layer Cake is a good Chardonney for mid week. My first thought when I tried it was you don't have to pair it with anything- it's good on its own. I think its around 10/12. I'll have to try Dynamite!
