Never Underestimate....

the power of a bribe, or persuasiveness as Im calling it in my head since the "bribee" was four years old and the hubs and I were doing the bribing. See, we have a child that LOVES his sleep, always has..how could this ever be a problem, you ask? Well, because of his heavy sleeping habits, he is still wearing a pull-up at night. (please don't judge, if you look at the package and search for the higher weight limits on the bigger sizes, I could wear a pull-up at night if I felt so inclined). So last night we are doing the whole bedtime routine, and of course, out of pullups. Fantastic. And did I mention there was a NorEaster blowing through outside? So, out of sheer desperation, we calmly explained that this was the night for no more pullups. Thinking he would be elated by this development(since the normal nightly ritual of him getting into the pullup involves him dancing around to some tribal inspired choreography whining with his hand up his behind attempting to loosen his self induced "wedgie")and get straight on board, we were surprised when he started to panic. Enter the bribe:

4 year old: " I just dont think I can make it all night"

Parents: "If you make it through the night with no pee in your pants or bed we will order you the "Union Jack" soldiers for your pirate ship we have scoured the Eastern seaboard for."

4 year old: "Actually, I don't need a pullup, Jack Sparrow doesn't wear a pullup"

Parents: "Deal"

4 year old: "wake up fools- there's no pee anywhere, Ill bring you the computer and you can place the order"

*the last part wasn't actually our conversation verbatim, just how I felt this morning....so tell me, how do your fight your battles?
