Mom-That Hurt My Heart!

Officially the worst words to ever hear from your child. Especially at 4. Especially due to someone else's stupidity and selfishness. We were leaving the grocery store (the good one, where they have little kid carts), and headed to our car. I had one hand holding the neck of my son's shirt and the other helping him steer the cart. I am 19 weeks pregnant and had on an orange sundress, in other words, pretty hard to miss. A mini van lurches forward and hits the cart hard enough to knock it out of our hands. I stopped and grabbed my son and jerked him back, while the van continued to lurch forward. The driver had her car in drive, foot on the brake, and upper body in the back seat attempting to serve as a referee to her two children who were fighting and not buckled in their seats. If your children are not buckled, why on earth would you put your car in drive? She put her window down and said something that almost sounded like "I did not see him" although the english was so broken that I couldn't understand her. We get to the car and my son says "that car didn't touch my skin, but it sure hurt my heart". I can honestly say that having that van driven by that idiot to actually have hit me would not have hurt worse than hearing those words from my little one.
I understand that we have years of potential to be immersed in situations that could make his "heart hurt" but I can't stand that because some other moron couldn't corral her kids, my son had the life scared out of him. So, if you see a frazzled mom out there, take a second, hold a door for her, tell her how cute her kids are, because she's got it rough watching out after her kids and all the other idiots out there!

  1. Amen sistah! People have no regard for human life anymore...and no regard for anyone but themselves! Back out of a parking spot in Walmart and watch how many people just walk behind your card in complete faith you will see them and stop.
