Take a note from Spirit Airlines....

and start charging for baggage. The mommy guilt baggage. The why can't I do it all baggage. The "her house is prettier and she's skinnier than me" baggage. Attention passengers, you will now be charged for carrying around all this baggage!!! This was was how I put it to a good friend of mine who is considering joining my gym. She came and took the tour, got on the elliptical beside me and we watched Regis and Kelly and talked about how cute the pint sized cohost was and marvelled at how she "did it all". We concluded that we would be much better mommies and wives if we had assistants and wardrobe stylists. Sadly, this will probably never be my situation, but if that is my biggest cross to bear, I think I'll live. So this friend is all ready to sign on the dotted line when we go to pick up the little ones from the kids club. The pen quickly went back into her purse and she wavered on whether or not join because she felt SO guilty about leaving her kids to work out. I asked her if she thought I was selfish for bringing my son to the gym as often as I did. She said no, definitely not, that I always seemed happy and unphased at what life threw at me. I told her that's because I check my baggage for 2 hours at least four times a week and go to the gym! I hope that each of you has some place or type of ritual that allows you to "check your baggage", because how broke would you be if they were charging for all the baggage you were carrying around?

This is the only baggage we should be carrying, ladies!! :)

  2. What a phenonimal post!!! I don't have little ones yet, but I already feel the wait of being the perfect person and they're just a twinkle in my eye. It helps to know it's ok to have some me time!

  3. So so true! Baggage is amazing. People compliment me on my arms sometimes, and they ask where I work-out...I always tell them, EVERYWHERE, with these two lovely, adorable weights (my girls). :) Great post, and have a wonderful Thursday!

  6. What a great post, it's like you've read my thoughts. :) So tired of trying to do it all and be everything to everyone - so exhausting! One of these days, I need to figure out how to check my baggage at the door!
