What's Yours?

I've never put a lot of stock in a New Year's Resolution (I've also never had to resolve to stop doing anything too terrible, either. This probably explains the first sentence). I think it's a natural time to start fresh and wipe the slate clean, though....so I've decided that with the new year will also come a bigger effort to control my temper (not that I plan to verbally abuse my family until the ball drops, and it's not like right now I have "No More Wire Hanger" episodes and issues to work out). I just feel like lately most encounters with my son end up with me yelling and him sitting on his bed. This is totally me, he's 4, what's my excuse? I am really just now learning to grasp the concept of being present for HIM and not worrying about the floors that don't get swept and the laundry piling up. (and I only have one child, so if that number is ever to increase, this is a great lesson to learn). I think we can all agree that this time with our children is SO fleeting and precious that I really don't want to ruin or waste it fussing about what toys go where or all the crumbs on the floor. SO I vow to be "here" more and fuss less while I'm here. "Keep Calm and Have a Cupcake" (or glass of cabernet, or 2 glasses of cabernet and a cupcake)....

  2. I think that's a GREAT resolution....I think more mamas need to focus more on that....because who cares if your house is clean if your child doesn't have find memories?!?!? at least, that's what I tell myself every day.....

  3. This is something I am going to try and work on too. Life is too short for me to get upset about her not liking her outfit.

We should start some kind of support group. Mommy's Time Out

  4. I could definitely work on my patience with my three boys. But then again they could work on their listening and behavior and then I wouldn't have to worry about patience. lol~ Good luck!
