Discipline for the Holidays...
Featured today is Elvis, more affectionately known as our "elf" from Elf on the Shelf, aka the way my 4 year old will get through this Holiday season unharmed and without his present count being in the red as a result of bad behavior. It. really. works. Just move him somewhere different every morning and have your child search for him. He goes back to the North Pole every night and reports to Santa on the status of all the children he's watching( it comes with a book that is much more detailed). We've definitely been experiencing some "growing pains" the past few weeks and it's been hard not to break Elvis out before my son went trick or treating. I'm hoping to make it to Thanksgiving...but I'm also a realist, Elvis may be showing up any time. You get to name your elf, and when we did this last year we also found out our boy loves The King. Who knew? This is a really fun tradition and you can buy them anywhere now. What are your favorite holiday traditions ( or threats about Santa skipping your house this year)?

I saw this at Barnes and Noble yesterday, but since my daughter is only 14 mos, I didn't investigate. Sounds awesome! She's just starting to throw fits and even though I wish this would work now, I look forward to threatening in the future;)
ReplyDeleteI cant wait to get one of these for my little guy!
ReplyDeleteElf on the Shelf is the ONLY way to go to get my nieces and nephews to behave. I get to hide one at each house on Thanksgiving!! Such a fun tradition!
ReplyDeleteOh we have our Elf "herbie" and I LOVE HIM! I have been telling my son that if he isn't good, herbie might opt to go to some nice boys house instead of ours... it has bought me a few extra weeks... so now we are being good so herbie comes back and then we will be good so that santa comes and... hmmm is January 1st too soon to break out threats on the Easter Bunny?
ReplyDeleteI want this. I need this. I must have it, right now! But, what happens after Christmas?
ReplyDeleteMy mother-in-law recently bought this for my little girl. She's only 18 months, so I think the "magic" will be lost on her this year, but I'm betting she will love it next Christmas!
ReplyDeleteit really is so cute and fun, all of my teacher friends say that during the holidays their kids come in talking about where they found each elf every morning...after Christmas Im hoping the new toys will buy us at least a couple months of good currency to barter with when we need it!
ReplyDeleteOur elf is "buddy," and he has already flown from the NP to our home! I agree, we are so thankful for this little guy, because it prevents a lot of drama! haha
