(cue the Leave it Beaver theme song)...most days, I love our neighborhood. Lately, however its been more like Wisteria Lane than the Donna Reed Show. Mondays at the pool are especially fun because all the shenanigans from the weekend are rehashed(because you just know all that's true). It's like high school all over again except you also get to take care of children and a house. It's not all bad...people bring dinner to neighbors (then check when they see you to see how much your a** has expanded), look out for your house while you're on vacation...the usual, but so much of it is just SO petty. The biggest deals are made out of the smallest occurences, and the huge deals just get swept under the rug. I need to ask permission to paint my shutters, but the police aren't called when a neighbor comes downstairs to what he thinks is his wife coming home from a business trip and finds teenagers raiding his liquor cabinet......the mommy wars are raging, but you can always find a babysitter...I guess I'll take it :)
